I didn't quite expect the attention my little site would get, I had to put things on hold while I figure out a way to run it so that it works with our sponsor driven sport rather than against it.
Norrene and everybody at Rubicon deserves nothing but praise for the work they do in facilitating NW racing. There are differences of opinion during the race, but I dont think any one team (and especially not Rubicon) deserves the thrashing they got on this site. We depend on generous sponsors to run these teams, our goal should be to attract more of them. Sorry for anything I wrote that added fuel to the fire.
I am not Brian Marcroft. Don't you think I would have added a few more mentions of Marcroft Cycles from the get-go. I am not him, but I do think you should have him build you a bike. Or if you already have a bike you should have him build you a TT bike, or a rain bike, or fixed gear, or unicycle. He works hard and builds great stuff. Stop bothering him with this stuff.
If you have any other questions, e-mail me. There's a link on the page. Otherwise, I need to figure out how to manage a site that gets this many hits and is productive to the NW cycling community. And then I want to talk about tactics. Race tactics.
Oh yeah, Jack Fost is today, hope you all rode the TT. My religion prevents me from riding TT's on days that end in 'y'. Hopefully you all went fast.

I recommend just deleting comments that are negative. We need someone talking about the big show from the racers perspective. Local racing is the bomb!
Things just got a little sidetracked for a few days but there's no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

If you want a less contentious site, get rid of the anonymity. Identify the blog writer. Don’t allow anonymous comments. Encourage thoughtful meaningful discourse.
I think your blog has the potential to offer a great forum for discussing OBRA racing, gossip, community, etc. It’s cool to find out who’s racing for which team; who upgraded from cat. 3 to cat. 2; what really happened in that successful (or unsuccessful) break; who caused whatever crash; and all of the other things that make racing fun and interesting.
Anyway just my two-cents.

The OBRA list is where you mind your manners. Good juicy gossip and shit talk is what the people really want! Well, that and race reports.
I agree with Jeff, you have to ID yourself.
Then we get to talk smack about you and the playing field is level; you can say whatever you want about anyone and they get to respond by saying your blog is a turd.

I agree with Molly and Jeff. We all should identify ourselves. I also do not think that a little smack talk is a bad thing
Not sure I agree that the blogger should be identified. If the blogger is anonymous, then it allows for more honesty (ironic huh?) about the races, racers and bone head moves that get pulled. I don't think the site would be as much fun or as open. Racers won't speak up. As long as posts and comments aren't malicious and mean spirited then it should be fun and insightful. Then again, a gossip blog that isn't malicious may be an oxy moron!
If Candi Murray gave the go ahead... :-)
Identifying yourself doesn't mean you can't be honest, it just means you have to take responsibility for something you are saying in a public forum. Seems like common sense to me. Molly and myself have been shit-talking for years, both of us have our names attached to our sites.
